I see metaverses as planets inside of a larger digital universe.
At the moment, this digital universe is seeing more and more metaverses forming and growing inside of it. And slowly, people are finding their way to them.
As people enter and explore these metaverses, they will be looking for things to fulfill their digital needs. If they can find resources to meet those needs, they will spend more time in that metaverse. If not, they will leave and explore other metaverses. Just like, humans did in the past.
Humans would explore the earth looking for something that would fulfill their needs, and they would settle on a-piece-of land if it helped benefit their needs. They would then spend more time to build upon that piece of land and make it grow into a settlement. Over time those settlements eventually became cities and countries.
I see these metaverses growing the same way within the next five years. As the people exploring them become their residents, those metaverses will become digital settlements.
However, today’s metaverses still need to be built, and that’s attracting some builders to them. At the moment, these builders are constructing the metaverse we might reside in one day. Once these builders finish building a metaverse, people will explore it to see if it has resources to fulfill their needs.
Then in the future, 10 to 20 years, these metaverses will grow into large cities if they can offer many people the resources they need to fulfill their needs. Also, when the hardware required to be in a metaverse becomes more mainstream and accessible to many.
When metaverses begin to grow and transform into large cities, they will look like a promised land where all your dreams will come true. Naturally, people will want to go to them to fulfill their needs and live the good life those metaverses will offer. Exactly like people flock to larger cities today. In the future, people will gravitate to larger metaverses because they will look promising and filled with opportunities.
In conclusion, this is how I see the metaverse growing. First, there will be many metaverses that people will explore and build. When a metaverse starts to fulfill the digital needs of people, more and more people will settle into it by spending more and more time in it. Allowing that metaverse to grow into a digital country, if you will.
One possible need a metaverse can fulfill is allowing people to earn income through the concept of play2earn. For instance, in today’s Decentraland, inside of the land WonderZone Amusement Park district at -29,56, it is possible for you to mine meteors for digital resources (loot). Which you can then trade in for NFT’s. You can then take that NFT use it with your avatar in Decentraland, or sell it or trade it in the Decentraland Marketplace or on OpenSea.
